The Beaufort Hotel review

Carl Medlin
We’ve just returned home from a wonderful weekend stay here. I cannot fault any element of our trip or stay. We were immediately made to feel extremely welcome by Natalia on the reception desk, who worked hard to make sure that my partner was comfortable and had an easily accessed room, as she is 32 weeks pregnant. We were offered to try a couple of different rooms, and Sasha kindly took our luggage from one to the other to help make sure we were well catered for. The service was exemplary, and really ensured we had a relaxing and peaceful stay.
Our chosen room had a very comfortable, large bed and a sofa, with a homely bathroom and storage and television. It was a fantastic, comfortable stay and I had a great night’s sleep. The hotel is perfectly located for everything Knightsbridge has to offer, particularly Harrods and Hyde Park.

If I had one very small observation, we could hear the footsteps above us – however in a building of this nature it feels as though thats to be expected, and it did not disturb either of our sleeps. It certainly doesn’t warrant me deducting a star!

We had read some bad reviews comparing it to a 1970s Travelodge, but we found the decor pleasant, the building and room clean, and the staff and absolute asset to this hotel. We are going to stay again, we hope.

Thank you for a lovely stay.

If I could give 0 I would.
Do NOT spend any money here. The inside does not look like the pictures. It is a real life catfish situation.

A travelodge is better value.

This ’boutique hotel’ is a horror house.

I was shocked by the snakeskin wallpaper throughout the hallways!
I felt scared to leave the room and I had to ask my partner to get me some water from reception which was 5 floors down and back up because you can’t drink the water from the taps in the room.

There were loud bangs throughout the night and the walls were so thin.
The windows rattled.
There is no kettle in the room. No room service. The door shook when there was movement outside.
The shower was very odd.
We were on the top floor and the door to the outside balcony was scuffed and mouldy. The balcony itself was a dumping ground and dirty.
The door to the bathroom was warped.

There is odd art throughout the property. The hallways and stairs are so narrow it made me feel claustrophobic but the weird tiny, slow lift was so dire I chose to take the awful stairs with the grim striped carpet and snakeskin wallpaper floor to ceiling. It was all very odd.

I’ve never experienced anything like it and in such a location and such a good looking property from the outside. There is so much potential. I didn’t speak to the staff but it was such a strange atmosphere.

Definitely spend your money elsewhere.

I would describe the hotel as sub-standard and grim.

I had a lovely stay this Friday. Even though I was heading to the theatre about 40 minutes after arriving, I was offered a cream tea on arrival, very welcome, given the sub zero temperatures. The room was clean, tidy. Perfect for a quick stop over, if a little bijoux. I travelled solo and found room 4 ideal and super quiet. A perfect location, a few minutes walk from Knightsbridge tube station, Harrods, surrounded by fabulous cafes and eateries, The Victoria and Albert Musuem and The Natural History Museum just a 10 minute stroll. Given the location, I slept like a baby! The hotel looked after my bag on Saturday, so I could enjoy the museum hassle free, the housekeeping ladies were adorable and the continental breakfast was served with a smile. The staff even let me charge my phone when I came to collect the bag. For a quick stop over, it was ideal. Given some of the feedback here, I had a pleasant stay. I would prefer drink making facilities in the room and a pen so I could fill out a breakfast card. As a veteran of hotel work having worked in London, Richmond & Dorset in the kitchens, restaurants and housekeeping and as a qualified chef myself, the attention to detail needs a small tweak but overall a lovely weekend. Thank you : )

CATFISHED.
The entire hotel has shoddy interior including snake skin wallpaper every wear – thin cheap walls which have holes in. The lift is suspect claustrophobic nightmare only allowing 2 people inside with a metallic shutter on springs which violently shuts on you.
There is no breakfast, unless you over pay them to essentially deliver you some bread and fruit on a tray. I was staying with my partner who is celiac, so zero options for her.
This hotel deceives you with its online pictures and boasts a complimentary scone on arrival but that didn’t happen. I was embarrassed that I’d taken my partner for her 40th birthday here.

Lets talk about the room.
Have you stayed in a travelodge before? how about one that hasn’t been updated since the 70’s? okay then you’re getting close only at a travelodge you at least are provided with a kettle, cups of tea, coffee etc. Here, forgot about it. We had a balcony which had a decent view so there is clearly all potential given its location.
The shower was old and brutal aesthetically. Given the thin walls, I wasn’t able to get much sleep which is unusual for me because I don’t struggle often but we could here the rooms next to us, constant load creaks and the wind was causing a disturbing structural noise from outside.
The place feel like how I’d imagine a brothel to feel like

Their is no room service and one member of staff was grumpy when I requested two forks for the food we had ordered in
What a disgrace of a place, I couldn’t wait to leave
When checking out, I was asked about my experience to which I replied that this clearly isn’t a 4 star hotel and that I was disappointed. Nothing was offered to compensate for this experience.

Granted, I should have done better homework – so if you’ve taken the time to read this review hopefully I’ve saved you from being tricked like I was

Location is fantastic, room is among the best in London (I was in room 5), absolutely brilliant. Reception staff service is an absolute joke, it’s like they grabbed people anywhere, with no idea how to treat guests and said “Here, take care of this”. Appalling.
