But…
We were awoken in the night by the sound of talking. It turns out that there is very little soundproofing and as a result we were sporadically awoken throughout the night by the philosophers talking next door. Those philosophers were up, debating life, until 6am.
I would have gone to ask them to keep it down except it sounded like they were talking at a normal volume, albeit with musical accompaniment, and I didn’t think it fair to try and make them whisper when they already seemed conscious of the time and volume.
Overall, the issue is the soundproofing. It affected my sleep and I was therefore grumpy and tired the following day. Not what I wanted from a hotel stay.
About 15 minutes to the nearest tube, but a bus stop outside. Nights were a little noisy from the streets.
Aircon didn’t work.
